Cultural Mission Statement

Service-Learning

I strive to always learn and listen to other perspectives to understand their background and culture. Everyday I am amazed at the efforts of people and how individuals come together, leaving their own individualism for a greater cause, something bigger than just themselves. And everyday, I strive to achieve something more than myself and for others too. I try to practice acceptance, respect and understanding to create a positive, safe space for others.

For Professional Communication 318, I had to complete a Service Learning project for the Outdoor Center Challenge Program. They required multiple visual aids explaining the Kolb’s experiential learning theory and how it connects to the Challenge Program as well as how it is applicable for professional settings. We made together as a cohesive group a couple power points, a couple of different presentations, a sandwich board and creatively thought of in-class activities that we facilitated. Each product that we made was contrarily different than the last because we kept our audience in mind, as well as how to approach them. The goal was to invite more student life to the Outdoor Center so we had to keep an diverse presentation every time.
